My daughter wanted a dog. This is where it all started. Our family has two cats so when your 9-year-old says she wants a dog there are challenges. The two cats have already claimed the house as their territory. So, for a dog to be a new addition, the dog would have to be outside. My initial thoughts were safety for the dog and neighbors. Heaven forbids the dog to get out and cause an incident. So, I needed to see what the investment would cost to grant this new addition to our family.
After researching many fence companies, I was shocked to discover when attempting to reach out I got no responses. I filled out their forms online. I left my name, address, email address, and phone number. I left messages on voicemails and waited. I waited and waited. I only received one email including a greeting with "Dear {Customer's Name}". I was shocked. I realized at that moment there needed to be a change.
As I went back looking at their websites, all I saw was multiple types of fences. With so many choices it became overwhelming. We were looking at getting a dog! That's when I decided to get into the fence industry. I reached back to my 20+ years of business experience and decided to do something about it!
I realized all these companies were focusing on their products, crews, and type of work. As a customer, it came down to What's Inside Matters. Lost was the why. Why someone actually wants a fence. I want to focus on what is most important to our customers, neighbors, and friends. Providing privacy, and protection with a personal touch.
I shared my vision with my lifelong friend from high school and he was all in! After being a pastor for many years leading churches in Florida and North Carolina, his family moved back to Alabama. We've always talked about our dream of building our own companies and decided this was a great opportunity to take this journey together. We both love people and building relationships.

For over 25 years, Matt Campbell has worked in church ministry, serving the people of Tallahassee, Florida, and Gastonia, North Carolina, as senior pastor. After years of service, Matt left ministry and began his career as a medical sales representative.
After working with many different people in different industries, Matt wanted another challenge; he hoped to start his own business in the transportation industry. After talking with one of his best friends from high school, Heath Holmes, they decided to start OneGuard Fencing as a way to continue giving back to their community with a focus on customer satisfaction.
Matt has been married to his wife, Hope, for over 28 years, and they have four children: Josiah, Judah, Abby, and Anna. When he's not serving the Vestavia AL community as OneGuard Fencing's co-owner, Matt enjoys Sunday family dinners, watching college football, playing golf, and spending time with his family.
